What We're Looking For
We are looking for new Board Members who care about what we do and want to help shape the future of supported housing. You don't need previous Board experience or a background in housing – what matters most is that you share our values and bring your own skills, insight, or lived experience. You might be a great fit if you:
• Have worked in a school, care service, or supported housing
• Are a parent, carer, or supporter of someone with a learning disability or autism
• Simply want to use your voice to help others live well
We are especially keen to hear from people with a learning disability or autism
If you think that this sounds like an interesting opportunity, feel that you have relevant experience or skills or would just like to know more about the role, please get in touch.
What's Involved?
We have six or seven board meetings a year, plus an annual strategy event
Our meetings are usually held in Kendal, but we can use video conferencing if needed
You should be willing to commit time to understand our work and the needs of our tenants – including spending some time with our tenants at some of our events
We expect you to commit time to read the relevant documents in advance of our Board Meetings
You may be asked to be an active participant in at least one of our Board sub-committees
In return, you'll be part of a dynamic, small yet hard-working organisation who share the reward of making a difference to the lives of our tenants.
Using your skills and experience, you'll learn about the supported housing sector and help identify where we can continue to improve our activities.
The role is currently not remunerated, although this is currently under review. We will however reimburse reasonable expenses.
Diversity Matters
We're committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the community we serve and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially people with learning disabilities and autism – if you share our values and feel that you could contribute to our mission, we would like to hear from you.
