The Job

We areseekinga visionaryand accomplishedAI Tech Lead, Frontier Applications to join ourteam.This is a high-visibility, high-impact leadershiproledriving the technical truth(e.g., model choices,logicand intent)and readiness requirements for AI capabilities. This leader will partneracrossfunctions on ourAI strategy and roadmap,shaping how we infuse AI into existing capabilitieswhile balancing 0 to 1 amid ambiguity to inform future AI offerings.

We are specifically keen on individuals withdeepunderstanding of emergingAIandMLtechnologiesand can bridge between advanced AI, ML engineering and AI business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shapeand evangelize thetechnicaltruth(e.g., model choices,logicand intent)forAIcapabilitiesfrom early concepts through launch,aligning with overalltechnology strategy andAIbusinessgoals, market trends,andcustomer needs

2. Deeply understand AI and ML advances, navigateambiguityand make thoughtful trade-offs in both 0 to 1 and ongoing lifecycle management environments toidentifyopportunities where AI can help address value-driven and real-world use case for industrial customers

3. Source emerging AI technologies for Industrial AI applications

4. Proactivelyidentifyand help mitigate technical risks, and ensure quality, safety, and reliability best practices

5. Partnering cross-functionally,drive thecreation oftechnicalAI requirements documents andend-to-endtechnicalroadmap, prioritizing features,dataconstraints, model performance,and requirements based on customer use cases, scientific and technological advancements, and broader industrial sector analysis

6. Define,monitorand report onkeyvalue-drivenAIcapabilitymetricsanddeterminenecessarydata-driven insights to evaluate performanceand inform future decisions

7. Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decisions

8. Ensure AIcapabilitiesare industrial sector relevant and adhere to safety, security,governanceand regulatory standards

9. Provide leadershipand mentorship tojunior team members; foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Essential Requirements:

10. 12+ years of experience with at least5years inan AI technicalleadership roleforbothemerging0 to 1 andestablished AI capabilities

11. Recent experience with modern AI paradigmssuch as:world models, foundation models, and multi-modal language models; agent-based systems and orchestration; and context retrieval and augmentation techniques 

12. Experience in responsible deployment practices, model drift mitigation, privacy-preserving federating learning, and AI governance best practices

13. Exceptionaltechnical background with deep intuition for AI inhighly regulatedindustries andproven experience havingrecently shipped code or emerging AI capabilities to production

14. Excellent judgment in prioritizing between emerging AI technologies and existing ones for right-sized and industrial sector relevant features, architecturalimprovementsand revenue entitlement

15. Expertise in Python and deep experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g.,Jax, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and state-of-the-art ML techniques (building, training, evaluating, deploying ML models) 

16. Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional and matrixed teams, and present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

17. Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics,Engineering or a related technical field; Ph. D degree preferred 

Desired skills andCompetencies:

18. Experience in at least two regulated industries (e.g., life sciences, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, asset-intensive industries, material science, etc.) 

19. Experience analyzing technical, scientificand market data for emerging AI technologies

20. Experience deploying ML models in cloud environments(AWS, GCP or Azure) in addition to workacross on-prem, edge, and cloud-connected architectures 

21. Familiarity with MLOps practices (model versioning, evaluation, monitoring, iteration) 

22. Experience working in both enterprise and start up environments

24. StrongAI capabilitiesintuition, making thoughtful prioritization and sequencing decisions

26. Adoption of AI capabilities by customers and external partnerswith measurable ROI

27. BalanceboldindustrialAI innovation with responsible, secure deployment practices

28. Strong collaboration with cross-functionaland matrixed,technicaland non-technical teams

Hybrid working

By default, employees are expected to be in their local AVEVA office three days a week, but some positions are fully office-based. Roles supporting particular customers or markets are sometimes remote.
