Management Accountant – Mechanical Building Services Contractor
Location: Derby
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + benefits (depending on experience)

An established and respected Mechanical Building Services Contractor based in Derby is seeking a talented Management Accountant to join the finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the financial management of a business that delivers complex mechanical installations across commercial, residential, and industrial projects nationwide.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Management Accountant will take ownership of monthly management accounts, project costing, and financial reporting. You’ll be instrumental in providing accurate financial insight to support operational decision-making and ensure the continued success and growth of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports
* Producing detailed project cost analysis and profitability reports
* Monitoring budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
* Assisting with year-end processes and liaising with auditors
* Providing financial support to project and operations teams
* Continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a solid grounding in management accounting and a proactive, hands-on approach. Experience within construction, engineering, or building services would be highly advantageous.
Essential skills and experience:
* Part or fully qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
* Proven experience as a Management Accountant, ideally in a project-based environment
* Strong analytical and Excel skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to partner with non-financial teams
* Detail-oriented, organised, and commercially minded
