Costs Advisor – Birmingham
Location: Hybrid
Reports To: Head of Insurance Business Services/Costs Operations Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Costs Advisor to manage a caseload of Defendant and Claimant cost files, delivering high-quality service in line with client expectations and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a caseload of costs files (Defendant and/or Claimant)
* Draft Bills of Costs, Schedules, Points of Dispute and Replies
* Negotiate settlements on high-value and complex cost claims
* Provide advice on third-party costs claims
* Prepare and manage cost budgets and discussion reports
* Attend hearings (advocacy), including CCMCs and detailed assessments
* Ensure compliance with service level agreements and internal procedures
* Support junior team members with supervision and fee-earning queries as required
Requirements:
* Experience with costs in insurance litigation (RTA, EL/PL, clinical negligence, etc)
* Strong understanding of the Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC) regime
* Advocacy experience in cost-related hearings
* Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
* Ability to manage multiple files independently and meet deadlines
