Join our team at M&S as a Customer Assistant in Operations, where you’ll play a vital role in keeping our store running smoothly behind the scenes. We’re looking for hardworking individuals who take pride in ensuring our products are delivered, organised, and ready for our colleagues and customers.
Responsibilities
* Accept deliveries, unpack goods, and prepare crates to ensure the shop floor is always fully stocked.
* Help create a seamless shopping experience by keeping products available for our customers at all times.
* Be digitally confident. Use in-store systems and tools to track deliveries, manage stock, and ensure products are exactly where they need to be.
* Work closely with colleagues from across the store to support a smooth operation and an inclusive environment.
* Be a team player who can adapt to the changing needs of the store.
Key Accountabilities
* Serve customers efficiently on the shop floor and at service points.
* Maintain “best in town” standards through presentation, availability, and store cleanliness.
* Utilise digital tools and communication channels to perform tasks.
* Share customer and colleague feedback to help improve processes.
* Share knowledge with colleagues to support skill development.
* Own learning and development; access digital learning solutions.
* Know daily sales targets, priorities, promotions, and selling opportunities.
* Possess strong product knowledge to recommend products and services.
* Engage with customers to understand needs and make recommendations.
* Understand store priorities and their part to play.
* Complete tasks with pace and in line with SOPs; minimise cost and waste through good practices.
* Follow safe and legal working practices.

Technical Skills / Experience
* Contributing to store sales and cost control.
* Work across the store to complete tasks right first time within timescales.
* Knowledge of customer shopping channels and strong product knowledge.
* Up-to-date knowledge of the commercial operation and basic retail essentials.
* Good level of digital capability and use of digital tools and applications.
* Understand customer needs and spot selling opportunities; adapt to change.
* Knowledge of VM principles.
