Relationship Manager, Museums and Cultural Property (MBN51)

Contract: 12 Month Fixed term maternity cover, 35 hours per week. Flexible working options available.

Salary: £38,689 per annum plus benefits.

Location: Birmingham (hybrid working, 1‑2 days on‑site per week).


Introduction

Arts Council England seeks a passionate and experienced Relationship Manager to join our inclusive and collaborative museums team. The full‑time role is based in Birmingham or Nottingham, provides a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package. You will manage a portfolio of organisations that we fund, helping them deliver the Arts Council's strategy and achieve growth.


Role Details

As a Relationship Manager, you will be the primary contact between funded organisations and the Arts Council. You will broker relationships to ensure organisations have access to appropriate expertise and knowledge to achieve their artistic ambitions and maintain organisational effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of funded organisations.
* Maintain awareness of their performance against business plans and funding agreements.
* Contribute to the assessment of applications, liaising with the Investment Centre and recommending funding decisions.
* Advisory and developmental role, supporting your portfolio in artistic ambition and financial/operational resilience.
* Offer advice to non‑funded organisations, supporting them in developing funding applications.


Qualifications and Experience

* Good understanding of organisational dynamics, business planning, financial reporting, performance management and governance.
* Effective at developing relationships with organisations at all levels, with personal credibility, communication and analytical skill to provide advice on artistic and operational challenges.
* Experience working in museums, heritage or related art forms and at senior level with arts and cultural organisations.
