Planner - Peterborough

As a Project Planner, you’ll work closely with the Planning Manager and wider planning function to keep programmes on track, identify risks early, and challenge delays. With support from Senior Planners, you’ll also receive ongoing mentorship to strengthen your planning expertise and advance your development.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain comprehensive project schedules covering the full lifecycle, working collaboratively with project teams.
Ensure plans fully reflect the scope of work, appropriate resource allocation, and accurate loading.
Apply Last Planner methodologies to support effective short‑term planning and team coordination.
Monitor the critical path, track key milestones, and highlight emerging risks and opportunities, providing timely guidance to delivery teams.
Review supply chain programmes, challenge assumptions where needed, and integrate approved updates into the master schedule.
Produce project schedules in line with internal planning processes, including:
Appropriate use of project and activity coding
Baseline creation and management
Preparation of programme narratives for client submission
Regular schedule integrity and quality checks
Skills & Experience
Experience working on projects within the water sector or similar heavy infrastructure environments.
Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
A solid understanding of collaborative planning techniques and best practice.
The ability to interpret drawings and technical information to support accurate and efficient programme development.
Experience contributing to detailed claims programmes and implementing contractual changes where required.
Clear communication skills, capable of explaining complex information to diverse audiences.
The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
Adaptability, curiosity, and a team‑focused approach committed to learning, supporting others, and enhancing the planning function’s reputation across the business.
A relevant technical degree is desirable but not essential.
