Job Description 3 x Positions Fixed-Term (January/February 2026 to December 2027) 2 x FTE 0.5 based in Hastings (20 Hours per week) 1 x FTE 0.5 based in Gisborne (20 Hours per week) Passionate about shaping the future of our ākonga? Keen to be out and about in our communities, supporting our ākonga and their whānau engage with our programmes of learning and their communities? Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our Kaiako engage with ākonga both online and face-to-face. As part of the role, you will engage directly with our ākonga, their whānau and their communities to best support them to engage and mahi on their learning journey. You'll work closely alongside colleagues in our regional offices. This role will require travel, home visits and so you'll also need to have a full clear driver's licence. We also provide flexible working options. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position We're looking for a passionate and innovative Kaiako, for our Kaituitui – Engagement and Wellbeing role with expertise in ākonga engagement and wellbeing, with ākonga hauora being a key component of your approach to learning. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Te Kura's ongoing transformation of distance learning. The Kaituitui - Engagement and Wellbeing directly supports ākonga enrolled at Te Kura through the Ministry of Education's Engagement and Wellbeing Gateway (EWG). The role has been developed at Te Kura to support ākonga and their whānau, with the goal of ensuring that our ākonga are championed, encouraged and supported to effectively access and actively engage with their learning at Te Kura and within their communities. The role builds and maintains key connections across Te Kura, communities and iwi to work together to provide opportunities for ākonga enrolled through the Engagement and Wellbeing Gateway to thrive. Ko koe tēnei | About you As a creative and forward-thinking educator who thrives on providing authentic learning experiences for ākonga, you'll bring: A belief in our ākonga and their ability to engage, achieve and thrive, Exceptional relationship and communication skills, with the proven ability to connect with people to achieve shared outcomes, A current New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate, Proven ability in supporting ākonga in their learning journey, and remain adaptable to changing ākonga and whānau needs, Ability to use data and systems to inform engagement actions, Your pastoral care experience and skills that empower ākonga through their Hauora, The ability to work collaboratively and supportively within a team environment, Understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and the Big Picture approach, Qualifications, knowledge and experience of effective teaching and learning practice, including future-focused pedagogies that engage and inspire ākonga, Knowledge and ability of te reo Māori and Te Ao Māori, and A full clear driver's licence and ability to travel.
