NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit an experienced Diabetes and Vascular Podiatrist or a committed and motivated experienced Band 6 Podiatrist to join their enthusiastic and progressive team based in a rural, general hospital in one of the most spectacular areas of the UK.
You will be joining a team committed to delivering the very best podiatric care including MSK, diabetes, wound management, nail surgery and general podiatry. We deliver care based upon need, via care pathways and Patient Initiated Reviews. The Service is fully integrated, providing both primary and secondary care from modern, well-equipped clinics based in the Western Isles’ three main hospitals.
This role offers an opportunity to live and work in our beautiful, rural island community and enjoy amazing outdoor and cultural activities such as kayaking, climbing, hill walking, diving as well as a wealth of traditional crafts and music related pursuits. Schools are excellent and children can enjoy a varied social life including dancing, art clubs, music lessons, drama clubs, scouting and running clubs.
Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence based clinical pathways for patients as part of the Podiatry service, supporting the Podiatry team with active ulcer and high risk clinical caseloads. You will have responsibility for developing relationships with all stakeholders of these pathways and, using your leadership skills, you will work with the Podiatry manager to help support the development of a seamless MDT approach to the care of this at risk group of patients. You will have a responsibility to educate colleagues, train staff in diabetic foot and wound care including implementation of integrated pathways of care and delivering on training packages and supervision/mentoring.
Qualifications
Experienced Podiatrists will be competent in the delivery of a high standard of care in a variety of settings and in all aspects of podiatry management, with specific experience in managing the at-risk foot. Podiatrists seeking to develop their role into the Advanced Diabetes and Vascular Podiatrist must also demonstrate experience of working with the high risk foot at Band 6 level. Applicants will be committed to developing through the NMAHP Development Framework.
