Job Description
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! The Process Engineer will support the design of complex thermal and fluid systems for the Rolls Royce SMR project, providing analysis and calculation support across Turbine Island systems and contributing to an internal centre of excellence for methodology.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements, challenging designs where necessary.
* Create and review Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, Component Sizing Calculations, and Specifications.
* Conduct and review studies and design documents.
* Develop and review functional and design requirements.
* Integrate Turbine Island design into the broader power plant.
* Serve as the go‑to expert for Turbine Island interfaces and stakeholder activities.
* Support Design Reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and ensure adherence to H&S Policies.
* Work with safety teams on nuclear safety licensing and environmental permitting.

Qualifications
* Background in the nuclear sector or regulated industries such as thermal power generation, oil and gas.
* Knowledge of steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and piping systems.
* Experience from FEED to detailed design and EPC delivery.
* Skilled in developing procurement specifications and working with suppliers.
* Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
* Familiarity with UK Health and Safety regulations, safety systems, and HAZOP.
* Understanding of ASME, European, and UK standards.
* Experience or awareness of Systems Engineering desirable.

* Security: BPSS and SC required.
* Travel: Ability to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK.
