Lecturer in Travel and Tourism - Maternity Cover, London
This is a fixed-term Maternity cover until 18th July 2026.
The appointed candidate will join an innovative and dynamic team involved in delivering 16-18 full-time study programmes within the Directorate of Professional Service Industries, including Travel and Tourism. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering teaching, providing advice and support to students as a Personal Tutor, conducting Internal Quality Assurance, and performing related administrative duties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Design, plan, and implement effective and inclusive teaching and supporting learning activities.
* Provide high-quality teaching, assessment, and internal moderation across courses including Level 2 Travel and Tourism and Cabin Crew.
* Teach various modules or within a subject area using appropriate methods and technologies.
* Assess student work and progress, providing constructive feedback.
* Monitor and improve key skill performance among student cohorts.
* Reflect on teaching design and delivery, seeking performance improvements through feedback analysis.
* Participate in outreach and widening participation activities.
* Support students academically, personally, and vocationally as a Personal Tutor.
* Guide potential students through interviews and applications.
* Assist students in progressing to Higher Education or employment.
* Contribute to course development and improvement, coordinating with staff and students.
* Qualifications required: Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PCET, PGCE, QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education).
* Subject expertise to at least Level 3.
* Experience teaching 16+ age group with varied abilities.
* GCSE or Level 2 in Maths and English.
* Internal Verifier Qualification (desirable).
* Recent relevant training or CPD within the last 2 years.
Experience:
* Planning and delivering lessons aligned with Ofsted requirements to at least 'good'.
* Experience in teaching and assessing at various levels with high-quality feedback.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
* Experience working with parents, families, and external partners.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Ability to motivate and inspire learners.
* Passion for learning and skills development.
* Proficiency in IT and E-Learning tools.
* Strong communication skills across all levels.
* Team player with initiative, hardworking, and well-organized.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
