Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner - Surgical Wards

hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Surgical Physiotherapy Team. The team provides physiotherapy to the surgical wards at James Cook University Hospital and also provide physiotherapy to the post operative assessment unit and head and neck surgery wards.

This post would suit an experienced band 2 or 3 assistant looking to progress to band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner.

The surgical team consists of Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants.

Main duties of the job

1. To undertake highly skilled work, support the physiotherapists in providing an effective and efficient physiotherapy service within the framework of clinical governance. To work under supervision and independently in order to facilitate effective treatment of patients within the service. To carry out basic assessments of non-complex patients as delegated by the physiotherapists. To accept patients delegated by a therapist and be responsible for the delivery of patient care. To use clinical judgement and freedom, within the scope of practice and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from a Registered physiotherapist

Essential criteria

2. 3 A-levels OR Health and Science T-level OR equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) OR As a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway) AND/OR Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties AND/OR Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation AND/OR Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care

4. Experience of working in health or social care.
5. Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings. Evidence of MDT working
