We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Role and responsibilities
As ECU Manager you will:
* Be the strategic lead for the management of financial investigations, ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Provide strong leadership, motivating and developing the team and managing performance and delivery.
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at senior levels to ensure Environment Agency priorities are supported and recognised by other enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learnt and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
The ECU consists of two teams (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team) with Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience and qualifications
Essential:
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in law enforcement with understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Strong communication skills, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices.
* Experience developing and enhancing the capability of a team and its members.
Desirable:
* Experience leading cross-agency collaborations and complex investigations.

Additional information
This is a hybrid role; you will work from home and your nearest office with travel across the country for meetings and duties. Incident response is a central part of our work, and you may be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support (additional payment may apply). Training and workplace adjustments are available.
