Information Governance and Inquiry Manager

Band 8a £55,690 - £62,682 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week; flexible working will be considered for MKUH roles
Do you have extensive information governance experience with an accredited qualification? Are you a confident and proactive information governance professional? This is an opportunity to lead Trust-wide data protection compliance, govern key information governance frameworks, manage incidents and investigations, and support readiness for public inquiries.
You will have strong analytical and reporting skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and experience in healthcare information governance and legislation. You will provide expert advice and assurance across departments and help protect and manage data at MKUH.

Main duties and responsibilities
To be integral to the Information Governance department, supporting the Head of Information Governance by contributing to all matters relating to the IG framework to ensure compliance with current and future legislation, national guidance, and best practice in Information Security and Information Governance (including NHS Digital and other mandates).
To add value to the Trust’s objectives by providing professional IG advice on data protection and information security across staff groups.
To manage designated Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements within timescales, with evidence prepared for audit review in a structured and organised manner, while monitoring progress against standards.
To support the IG incident process from triage to reporting, including liaison with the Information Commissioner’s Office and Department of Health as appropriate, in line with NHS Digital guidance.
To contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust’s Information Governance Policies and to develop effective working relationships across the Trust to positively influence patient and staff experience.
Record and Data Management
Operational management of the records management programme and framework; identify where records are held and ensure access centrally; ensure records are available for audit as required.
Analytical and Reporting
Ensure data collected is analysed and reported by the IG team; monitor data processing and contribute to KPI development for assessing individual and workstream performance.
General and Development
Engage with line manager for regular performance reviews; identify development needs and maintain a personal development plan; refer to the Job Description for further information.
Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential)
* Accredited qualification in Confidentiality/Data Protection, Records Management or equivalent experience
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience at a similar level
* British Computer Society Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or equivalent experience
* Comprehensive knowledge of health information systems development
* Certificate in Information Governance or relevant experience
* Previous experience in a similar public sector role
* Specialist knowledge of Data Protection, Confidentiality, Information & Cyber Security, and Records Management
Desirable Qualifications
* Further training or experience in records management
Experience (Essential)
* Experience in evaluating and measuring the performance of health services
* Experience in communications and stakeholder management
* Experience using core IT packages (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Records Management and Data Protection Act familiarity
* Experience with FOI and exemptions/public interest
* Experience presenting complex information to large groups and experience of staff line management
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate
* Up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation and best practice in public/private sectors
* Experience completing Data Security & Protection Toolkit and serious incident reporting
* Additional Records Management experience
