White Horse are working with an organisation within the education sector to recruit an experienced HR Adviser to join their central HR function. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys a varied role, supporting multiple sites and delivering high-quality HR guidance to leaders, managers and staff.
Strong Employee Relations experience is key for this position.
The Role
As a key member of the central HR team, you will provide consistent and proactive HR support across the organisation. You will advise on employee relations, policies, employment law and HR best practice, ensuring a robust and compliant HR service aligned with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Advisory
* Advise on absence, performance management, disciplinary, grievance and wider ER matters.
* Support leaders through casework, including hearings and appeals.
* Provide guidance on employment law, HR policies and terms and conditions.
* Attend welfare and return-to-work meetings and advise on occupational health recommendations.
* Support consultation processes, working with employee representatives where required.
Policies, Change & Projects
* Support the development and implementation of HR policies.
* Assist with organisational change including restructures, redundancies and TUPE.
* Deliver training on HR processes and legislative updates.
* Create and maintain HR templates, guides and process documentation.
* Contribute to HR project work across the organisation.
Compliance & Safer Recruitment
* Maintain accurate HR records and support statutory workforce reporting.
* Support compliance and safer recruitment processes, including pre-employment checks.
* Assist with HR audits and ensure GDPR and safeguarding standards are met.
Health, Welfare & Attendance
* Support consistent absence management processes and OH referrals.
* Conduct and advise on employee risk assessments.
* Promote wellbeing and engagement initiatives across the organisation.
Person Specification
Essential:
* CIPD Level 5 (Level 7 desirable).
* Significant generalist HR experience within a medium to large organisation.
* Strong employee relations experience with the capability to coach managers.
* Experience supporting organisational change (restructures, redundancy or TUPE).
* Experience developing policies and delivering training.
* Solid working knowledge of employment law, ACAS guidance and HR best practice.
* Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
* Strong organisation, resilience and attention to detail.
* Excellent IT skills and experience working across multiple sites.
Desirable:
* Experience within the education sector.
* Experience working with trade unions.
* Line management experience.
