A client within the Public Sector based in Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their Environment and Enforcement team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring the Council maintains high standards of health, safety and welfare across all departments and sites. The role will involve conducting audits, inspections, and accident investigations, while providing professional advice, guidance and training to managers and staff.
* Undertake planned health and safety audits, inspections and accident investigations, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
* Support and advise managers on health and safety compliance, risk assessments and control measures.
* Deliver and coordinate training on health and safety awareness, policies and best practice.
* Assist in the development and review of corporate health and safety strategies, objectives and procedures.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including the HSE, trade unions and insurers on health and safety matters.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
* NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) or be willing to obtain.
* Experience of undertaking health and safety audits and investigations within a complex organisation.
* Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and its practical application.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
* Experience delivering training across a range of health and safety topics.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 per hour umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £20 per hour PAYE).
