Our client, a prominent organisation within the highways sector, is seeking a Permit Technician to join their Network Management team on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing duties associated with Statutory & Private Undertakers and highway works under NRSWA, TMA, and the Highway Maintenance Act 1980
Co-ordinating, prioritising, and regulating all activities within a defined area of responsibility across the highway network
Reviewing all permit applications in line with the WaSP Scheme and supporting coordination related to Skips/Scaffolds/S50 road opening licences, S171 applications, and road closures
Supporting the organisation in adhering to permit requirements, including logging actual starts/works stops and registering reinstatements
Processing and supporting coordination of major works activities, including Section 278s and Section 38s borough-wide
Proactively reviewing and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices, S74 overrun warnings, and accounts for the defined network area
Liaising with the public, local elected council members, town councils, and other local authorities to improve practices related to NRSWA and TMA
Attending site and planning meetings to assist in facilitating major schemes across the network area
Leading support for Statutory undertakers in delivering their works packages with minimal network impact
Job Requirements:
Experience with NRSWA, TMA, and related codes of practice
Strong ability to coordinate and manage activities within a highway network
Proficiency in processing and reviewing permit applications and major works activities
Competency in issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and managing network area accounts
Excellent communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders
Capability to attend and contribute to site and planning meetings
