About the Role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, youll play a key role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components. Youll work closely with fellow engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver practical, cost-effective, and high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development - Create, refine, and innovate mechanical system designs using CAD and other 3D modelling tools.
Analysis & Testing - Perform simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate design integrity, performance, safety, and cost-efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to deliver robust solutions.
Documentation - Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and reports to support production and compliance.
Project Oversight - Manage timelines, resources, and progress of your projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Manager.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment.
Time-served engineer preferred but not essential.
Strong skills in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other relevant design tools.
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design analysis methods.
Excellent problem-solving skills, effective communicator, and a strong team player.
Organisational Skills
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Previous experience in a machine shop or production engineering environment.

Hours of work:
4.5 Day week: Mon Thurs: 07:30-16:00 & Fri 07:30 12:00
4 Day week: Mon Thurs: 07:00-16:30
Salary:
£35k to £45k (Depending on experience)
