Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then consider working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.
NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint a Consultant Intensivist to support its current Intensive Care team. Applicants should be Fellows / Associate Fellows of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine or have equivalent training and experience. Applications from doctors dual trained in partner specialties (Anaesthesia, Physicians, Emergency Medicine) or with roles in education or research are encouraged. Please note, a sole full-time Intensive Care Medicine role is not available at this time.
The post involves working with a team of 9 Consultant Intensivists, trainees from ICM, Anaesthesia, and Internal Medicine, Foundation doctors, and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive Critical Care within a modern 19-bed unit, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. The department values enthusiasm and a drive for excellence, fostering a supportive environment.
Services are centralized at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, with active Emergency, Respiratory, Cardiology, Renal, Surgical, Obstetric, and Paediatric services. The department collaborates closely with these specialties. Sessions outside core ICU duties will be negotiated with partner specialties. The ICU work involves daytime and weekend sessions, with on-call support for nights as needed. Night staffing includes a trainee or ACCP dedicated to ICU, with teamwork from the resident Consultant Anaesthetist and an anaesthesia trainee.
We welcome your skills and experience and offer a supportive environment. The hospital is located in scenic Scotland, near Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with excellent transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
