Job Summary
The individual will play a key role in delivering a high quality service at Velindre Cancer Centre. The post holder will work within the Outpatient Service Appointment Booking Team ensuring that all outpatient activity is managed accurately and in a timely manner to support and manage the patient pathway in line with clinical instruction and departmental processes.
Main Duties
 * Book, process and monitor outpatient activity, including new patient, follow‑up and pre‑treatment appointments.
 * Coordinate the scheduling of blood tests and other investigations as per clinical request.
 * Self‑manage workload, prioritise tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
 * Provide excellent verbal communication skills, especially in patient telephone consultations.
 * Welsh language skills desirable; English or Welsh applicants equally welcome.
 * Ensure accurate booking, correct slot allocation and prompt dispatch of appointment letters and information booklets.
 * Handle telephone calls regarding appointments, complaints and concerns; respond to unhappy patients and manage rescheduling.
 * Maintain attention to detail and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Experience
 * HNC/HND/Diploma level standard of education.
 * Good knowledge of outpatient pathways and activity classification.
 * Experience with NHS Wales Patient Administration Systems.
 * Experience of Data Protection and Confidentiality.
 * Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
 * Excellent telephone and customer care skills.
 * Welsh language skills (levels 1–5) desirable.
Personal Skills
 * Effective prioritisation ability.
 * Good organisational skills.
 * Strong written and verbal communication.
 * Welsh language skills desirable.
