EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY SERVICE
Specialist Practitioner Educational Psychologist for Children Looked After (CLA) 0.4 FTE
Soulbury Scale A 3-8 + up to 3 SPA points. Existing SPA points will be honoured.
RCT Educational Psychology Service are seeking to appoint an Educational Psychologist, with at least 2 years experience, who will contribute to the effective support of Children Looked After (CLA) in RCT ensuring that bespoke psychological support is provided in a timely way.

As a specialist member of the Educational Psychology Service the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the Education Directorate and Children's Services to provide high quality psychological services (including consultation, assessment, intervention, training, research and reflective spaces).

The post holder will play a key role in contributing to the work of the Virtual School working with Children and Young People (CYP), Carers and school staff to develop appropriate intervention strategies, including therapeutic approaches to ensure CYP's engagement and access to learning and to support wellbeing.

The role will also involve direct work with other professionals and foster carers to help to meet the learning and wellbeing needs for those children and young people in their care. This will include providing effective consultation with regards the educational provision required to meet the needs of children and young people, as an integral part of the care planning process. The roll will require attendance at a range of meetings relating to children and young people who are looked after, both in and out of county.

The post holder will be expected to collaborate with other agencies on the development and delivery of training in relation to the needs of children and young people who are looked after.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is dynamic and innovative service supporting young people, their families and schools across a diverse geographical area. The service provides a flexible service delivery model that ensures psychological support is provided in the most effective and efficient way. Our service particularly values the importance of reflective practices and provides a variety of opportunities for staff to receive regular individual and group supervision as well as weekly reflection sessions with peers to support you in your role. You will also receive a tailored induction process and ongoing mentoring.

You will enjoy working with a large, friendly and dynamic team of fully qualified Educational Psychologists, who have a wide range of interests and expertise.

The post will be primarily based in Valleys Innovation Centre, Abercynon, which is within easy reach of the A470 and Cardiff.
