Psychology Graduate - SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Shrewsbury
Salary: £90–£95 per day
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: September 2025

If you’re a recent psychology graduate with a passion for supporting young people, this role could be the perfect first step into education.

We are seeking a committed and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. You will play a key role in helping students engage with their learning, build positive relationships, and develop the skills they need to succeed.

What you will be doing:

* Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to create supportive routines
* Using your psychology knowledge to help children manage emotions and behaviour
* Creating a safe, structured environment where every child can thrive

What we are looking for:

* A psychology graduate (or similar field) keen to apply knowledge in a practical, rewarding way
* Someone with empathy, patience, and a calm approach
* Experience working with children or young people (voluntary or paid) is desirable
* A genuine interest in SEND, mental health, and child development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
