The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing support to the Firm's Intellectual Property practice. We handle high volumes of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on rapidly developing IP portfolios of household names with worldwide coverage, requiring a global mindset and knowledge of different international requirements. The role involves collaborating with a range of professionals across cultures and teams, and driving matters forward with local counsel or clients. The successful candidate will support senior professionals and be relied upon for accurate work.

Main responsibilities:
* Support the Firm's Global IP practice on various matters including:
* Handling technical trademark formalities: pre-registration, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, post-registration steps.
* Preparing client reports independently.
* Supporting global IP M&A activities: recordal of assignments, licenses, security interests, and registry updates.
* Drafting legal documents, liaising with local counsel, and managing schedules and communications.
* Conducting comprehensive IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
* Supporting anti-counterfeiting programs: drafting guides, seizure notifications, liaising with infringers.
* Performing trademark searches and drafting reports.
* Providing trademark watching services.
* Developing legal expertise to support firm lawyers and clients effectively.
Services and process standards:
* Coordinate with global teams to follow procedures and maintain standards.
* Meet service delivery standards, manage workloads, and adhere to deadlines.
* Assist with docketing and deadline management.
* Proactively communicate if deadlines or workloads are at risk.
* Comply with firm procedures and standards.
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with trade mark/IP experience (preferred).
* Passion for Intellectual Property and willingness to develop IP knowledge.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria:
* CITMA qualification (advantage).
