A growing and innovative diagnostics organisation is seeking a Medical Affairs Scientist to join its team in Cambridge.
This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with experience in molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics, clinical studies, or laboratory science to play a key role in supporting the development and global adoption of cutting-edge diagnostic technologies.
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of science, clinical data, and product development, collaborating with internal teams, laboratories, clinicians, and external partners to generate and communicate clinical and analytical evidence supporting a portfolio of diagnostic products.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the design, coordination, and delivery of analytical and clinical performance studies
* Draft and review study protocols, study plans, technical documentation, and scientific reports
* Coordinate external collaborations with laboratories, clinicians, and research partners
* Analyse, interpret, and communicate scientific, clinical, and analytical data
* Manage project activities from initiation through to completion
* Support validation activities, quality management processes, CAPAs, and change controls
* Contribute scientific content for product documentation and marketing materials
* Assist with risk management activities in line with ISO 14971 requirements
* Provide training and scientific support to colleagues where required
* Support analysis of FFPE and haematological specimens using microscopy and automated software platforms
* Contribute to cytogenetic and karyotype analysis activities where appropriate
Requirements:
Essential
* BSc, MSc, or equivalent qualification in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or a related scientific discipline
* Knowledge of FISH and/or cytogenetic techniques and their clinical applications
* Understanding of molecular diagnostics, laboratory workflows, or clinical testing environments
* Experience interpreting scientific, analytical, or clinical data
* Strong written communication skills with experience preparing scientific reports, protocols, or technical documentation
* Excellent organisational and project coordination abilities
* Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
Desirable
* Experience within a cytogenetics or molecular diagnostics laboratory
* Experience supporting clinical studies, performance evaluations, or validation activities
* Knowledge of karyotype analysis
* Experience coordinating external collaborations or scientific partnerships
* Familiarity with quality management systems, CAPAs, and regulatory environments
* Experience within the diagnostics, life sciences, or healthcare sectors
