Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Psychology Graduate Opportunity
Milk Education are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the Wallsend area of Newcastle who are seeking a full-time Year 5 Teaching Assistant to support pupils within Key Stage 2. This role is particularly suited to psychology graduates who are looking to gain hands-on experience within an education setting.
The school have provided excellent feedback on psychology graduates previously placed through Milk Education and are keen to continue working with graduates who can bring a strong understanding of child development, behaviour and learning into the classroom.
This role is full-time, Monday to Friday, starting immediately.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support learning across the KS2 curriculum, including English and Maths. You may also provide targeted support, small group work or intervention sessions as required.
The hours of work are 08:30am to 15:30pm.
Teaching Assistant – Role & Responsibilities:
1. Support pupils within Year 5 to access learning and remain engaged
2. Provide tailored in-class support and deliver intervention or catch-up sessions
3. Work collaboratively with the class teacher to support lesson delivery and adapt activities
4. Prepare classroom resources and support daily routines
5. Promote inclusion and provide consistent support to pupils with additional learning needs
Graduate Programme – Who we’re looking for:
6. Psychology graduates who have completed their degree within the past two years
7. Graduates due to complete their degree in Winter 2026 are encouraged to apply
8. A strong interest in education, child development or educational psychology
9. Good numeracy and literacy skills
10. Ability to work under the guidance of the class teacher
