The discipline area is located in the University’s STEM annex in Markeaton Street, where staff offices and lab facilities are co-located. About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Associate Lecturer in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The main areas of expertise for this role include: Control and Instrumentation, Industrial Electronics and Automation, Power Electronic Application, Intelligent Instrumentation Systems, Digital Signal Processing, and Modern Control Systems.

You will deliver innovative teaching that links academic study with real-world practice and contributing to the development of shared modules across engineering programmes.

As part of a TEF Gold institution, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and will have the chance to make a real impact through innovative teaching.

The typical teaching timetable runs 09:00–17:00, with most scheduled delivery currently at our Markeaton Street campus, though some teaching may be required at other locations for specific clients. Our research labs and facilities are also based on the same site, providing an excellent environment for both teaching and research.

Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.

Salary range from £16.51 - £41.29 per hour

The lower rate is for non-teaching scheduled work, whereas the higher rate is an enhanced rate for teaching and additional duties/meetings. Your actual hourly rate is £16.51 per hour. The rate of £41.29 includes 1 hour of teaching time and 1.5 hours of prep/marking/admin.


About You

We are seeking a motivated individual with a first degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience, and industry knowledge related to the subject area. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level, demonstrating excellent communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to inspire, engage, and motivate students to achieve their best.
