Overview

Headteacher – The Holden School, Leigh, WN7 4SB

Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum dependent on experience. Hours: Monday to Friday. Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only. Start Date: January 2026. UK Applicants only.

Responsibilities

As Headteacher, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of pupils and young people, with the aim of delivering positive outcomes. You will join a high-achieving company and executive team, lead your own outstanding school, and positively impact the lives of many young people. You will focus on developing self-esteem and wellbeing, as well as academic performance and development.


Who we are looking for

You will exercise dynamic leadership of the School and ensure the full development of the vision for the service, its promotion and continuous improvement. You will create and maintain a Centre of Excellence in the education of our students. You will create a shared vision and strategic plan inspiring pupils, staff and the wider school community, with values that are inclusive of stakeholders.

You will work in collaboration with other senior managers to provide a complete service and to grow the wider services offered by the Centre to encourage an increase in referrals.

* At least three years experience as a senior leader in a specialist school
* Qualified Teacher Status or Equivalent
* Willingness to extend personal and professional development
* Ability to lead and provide a clear vision
* Appreciation and understanding that leadership and management of a school encompasses processes contributing to pupil outcomes, staff motivation, safeguarding, pupil intake, cost management, regulatory compliance and growth plans

The Holden School is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged 5 to 18, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas. We are a Therapeutic Led, Trauma Informed School providing individualised curriculums supported by our Class Teams, Pastoral Team and Therapists. We strive to nurture aspiration, progress academically and socially, and build confidence in our students and the wider community.
