Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to join our team. They will ensure the manufacture of quality products which meets production needs and Customer Specification and achieves profit and performance targets. Driving continuous improvement to maximise operational effectiveness and efficiencies through the development of people, process and systems.

Duties

Oversee Daily Production Operations

· Supervise and coordinate all activities of production staff.

· Ensure production schedules are met with efficiency and quality standards.

Staff Supervision and Training

· Assign tasks and monitor employee performance.

· Provide training, coaching, and disciplinary actions as necessary.

· Ensure team compliance with company policies and safety protocols.

· Set a good example.

Ensure Food Safety and Quality Standards

· Maintain compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety regulations.

· Perform and oversee quality control checks during production.

· Report and investigate product deviations or non-conformities.

Monitor Equipment and Facility

· Ensure machinery is functioning properly and safely.

· Coordinate with maintenance for repairs or preventative servicing.

· Monitor cleanliness and sanitation of production areas.

Inventory and Materials Management

· Monitor usage of raw materials and packaging.

· Report shortages or overages to inventory or supply chain teams.

· Ensure proper storage and handling of food products.

Production Planning and Reporting

· Collaborate with planning teams to meet daily and weekly targets.

· Complete shift reports, production logs, and incident reports.

· Analyse production data to identify efficiency improvements.

Enforce Safety and Compliance

· Promote and enforce a culture of workplace safety.

· Conduct safety inspections and participate in audits.

· To be responsible for ensuring food safety, integrity, legality and quality at all times.

· Report and respond to any incidents, injuries, or near-misses.

· Reduces any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within your area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.

· Follow all Company policies, procedures and SOPs

· Check that all plant, machinery and equipment is safe to use. Any defect must immediately be reported and if it is felt, in consultation with your immediate Manager, that there is a risk of imminent danger, then the machine will not be used until repairs have been carried out.

· Ensure that appropriate protective clothing and equipment, is in a serviceable condition and is worn/used by all persons present.

· Check that all persons in your department/s are familiar with the routine in case of fire or other emergency that might require evacuation of the workplace.

· Ensure that good housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained throughout your area/s of responsibility.

Continuous Improvement

· Identify and implement process improvements to boost productivity.

· Lead or participate in lean manufacturing or 5S initiatives.

· Engage team members in problem-solving and innovation.

Communication

· Communicate regularly and effectively with your team and Management in order that they are fully briefed on all aspects of line / area operations, in particular the achievement of line/ area targets, employee attitudes and product quality.

· Liaise with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HR teams.

· Attend production meetings and communicate shift updates effectively.

Documentation and Record-Keeping

· Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and labour.

· Ensure traceability of products and ingredients per regulatory standards.

Other

· Covers for Production Manager as and when required

· Ensure development and training of operatives/ chargehands

Qualifications

* Good Level of English – written and oral.
* Numerate.
* Good Organisational Skills.
* Minimum of 12 months experience in the food manufacturing industry OR in a supervisory role.
* Computer Literate.
* Ability to complete project work assigned and present the data to Technical Management.
* Good attention to detail and ability to problem solve independently.
* Effective communication with internal and external personnel.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

* supervisory / FMCG: 1 year (preferred)
