Job Description:
Further Information: Do you want to work in a role that makes a difference to the people of Stockton-on-Tees who live in privately rented accommodation? Well, look no further – this is the opportunity for you!
The Housing & A Fairer Stockton-on-Tees service are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative, and self-motivated individual to join the Selective Licensing team as a Team Leader with drive and enthusiasm.
The team is committed to improving housing conditions, management practices, anti-social behaviour, and environmental crime in the private rented sector. They aim to protect residents by ensuring everyone has a safe and well-maintained home and environment. They work positively with responsible landlords and tenants, while taking strong action against neglectful parties, using legislation effectively.
The role involves overseeing processes such as licensing applications, property surveys, compliance checks, and investigations into anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, and community safety. You will lead enforcement functions, take enforcement actions, and attend court or tribunal hearings as needed.
Applicants should demonstrate experience in private sector housing, enforcement, or licensing, knowledge of relevant legislation, and skills in producing formal notices, reports, and plans. A proven track record in enforcement and advising less experienced officers is essential.
Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, professionalism, and alignment with the Council’s culture are required.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council offers a competitive salary, generous leave, pension scheme, and benefits including retail discounts, health and well-being support, and development opportunities.
This is a fixed-term position up to 31st August 2029.
For more information, contact Gary Knight, Service Lead - Private Sector Housing, at 01642 526621 or via email. All application communications will be sent to your registered email address and will appear in your North East Jobs account.
