Travail Education are working with a local Secondary school in Newark who have a part time opportunity for a qualified Science Teacher to deliver to A Level standard 2 - 3 days per week (depending on your availability) from September until December 2024 initially.
The academy have stepped away from the traditional Key Stage 3/4 Science model and offer BTEC, so the vast majority of your delivery will be to A Level Standard.
The school have interleaved science disciplines around several carefully selected themes. This approach provides numerous opportunities to draw upon prior learning, further embedding core and ambitious knowledge. Their curriculum design is based on big scientific questions; these are then made relevant through focusing on how human activity and ambition affects the world whilst building schema across subjects. For example, Year 7 begin with the big question "Why understand the world below water?" Through an exploration of these big questions students will cover the National Curriculum in a new but familiar context making it more relevant to them serving to foster engagement and pique curiosity. The school provides pupils with opportunities to test their understanding of scientific concepts through modelling, investigative skills and questioning.

To be considered you will need the following:
-PGCE qualified or equivalent
-Full UK QTS
-2 Years of traceable work/study references
-Fully Enhanced DBS, registered on the DBS Update Service or be prepared to purchase a new one.
You must have experience of delivering Science to A Level Standard within a UK classroom
In return you will be paid to scale, payable weekly through the traditional PAYE method.
You will also qualify for a Pension after qualifying period.
