Join to apply for the Community Support Worker role at Autism Unlimited

We are looking for a friendly and reliable male Community Support Worker to join our team, supporting a young man who lives in Poole. You would also spend time at our supported living service in Southbourne, so being flexible and happy to travel between locations is important.

In this role, you’ll be helping the people we support build confidence and independence—whether that means lending a hand with everyday tasks at home, getting involved in new hobbies, or supporting him to explore work and volunteering opportunities.

A big part of your working week would be support Tim - a remarkable person we support living in his own home in Poole. He communicates effectively through speech, but benefits from visual aids to help him plan and understand his day.

Tim attends our Futures provision three days per week learning key skills to help prepare him for adulthood and so when he is at home we would very much like to continue this support.

As a valued member of our team, your role will involve a mix of meaningful support — from helping with daily routines like food preparation, shopping, and personal care, to accompanying the people we support as they access the community and pursue their interests. You may also assist with administering medication to ensure their wellbeing.

Hours: This would be a mixture of shifts between 7am - 10pm, Monday - Sunday. This role would include alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment)

Benefits:

* Blue Light discount card
* A rewarding job, full of variety and opportunities for career development
* Sleep in rate between £50 - £80
* Overtime available at competitive rates
* 12-week induction programme consisting of in-house training, e-learning, shadowing, coaching, and mentoring.
* The opportunity to complete an accredited qualification once you’ve passed your probation period.
* All colleagues have access to an internal learning portal so you can increase your skills and knowledge in the areas that interest you the most.
* Cycle to work scheme
* Up to 33 days annual leave pro-rata (including bank holidays)
* A generous employee referral scheme - you can earn £400 for each person you successfully refer!
* Benefits portal which gives you access to money off your favourite shops, restaurants, and great days out, along with a cashback healthcare plan for general day-to-day healthcare such as optical and dental.
* A 24 Hour Employee Assistance Programme that provides practical information and support on issues like money management, family and legal information.
* We also have a network of Mental Health First Aiders to provide support you in the event you experience issues relating to your mental health.

If this role sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. To apply it couldn’t be simpler - just apply to complete the application process.

Our commitment: We welcome applications from everyone and value diversity in our workforce. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this. Anyone with any form of disability will be provided with reasonable adjustments in order to participate in the job application or interview process. As part of our commitment to providing reasonable adjustments, please let us know if you require support to complete your application.
