Description

Diversity matters
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.

We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!

Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.

The Living Wage Foundation’s statement 'a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay' is one that we are proud to commit to in the UK. As an accredited Living Wage employer, we put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.

Job Title: Product Compliance Officer (Cosmetic compliance experience required)
Location: Poole based, or hybrid with weekly travel to Poole required
Type of Contract: Permanent, full-time

Salary banding: £30-38k pa depending on experience

We are looking for a compliance officer with a can-do attitude and experience in cosmetics regulation to join our growing team. You’ll support the necessary administration required to sell a product (cosmetic and beyond) legally and safely in all our markets, and assist with internal and external enquiries and exciting research projects. If you like to be challenged and want to work in a creative environment with ethical values, this is the role for you!

The Team:
With a product for every need comes compliance for every market! The Product Compliance Team ensures we can manufacture and sell our wide range of products worldwide, in compliance with local regulations, without compromising our ethics.

The team works to mitigate risk and enact proactive solutions to regulatory issues in line with the wider ethics and goals of the business, through awareness of current and future regulatory requirements and stakeholder engagement. It's an essential stream of behind-the-scenes work that gets our products into bathrooms all over the world.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll support the Product Compliance Coordinator and Senior Product Compliance Coordinator with the day-to-day work of launching products, responding to queries, researching regulations and problem-solving. One week, you may be looking into the regulations for selling a scented bookmark, the next you may be ensuring markets have what they need to launch our fast-moving products and (the very next) working with our in-house tech team to look at the compliance of developing new concepts.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Confidently researching and reporting back on regulatory requirements and queries for cosmetics and beyond.
* Collaborating with teams across the business and in different markets on exciting new projects that require compliance support as they take shape.
* Working with different and new markets to support with queries, concerns and opportunities as they arise.
* Helping with operational work, which may include generating quantitative ingredients lists, registering products with local authorities or portals, supporting markets with essential documents, and proofing labels that come through via the artwork team to ensure accuracy.
* Liaising with teams including Quality, Toxicology, Customer Care and Artwork teams where necessary.
* Providing support and guidance to more junior members of the Product Compliance team, and demonstrating confidence in responding to queries and giving advice to inventors, R&D and other markets.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* A brand ambassador who communicates our values.
* A proactive member of the team, keeping up to date with changes in legislation and sharing information and skills.
* Shows confidence in communicating with other teams and connecting with different areas of the business.
* Organised but flexible, with high-level attention to detail and great time management.
* Appetite for learning and upskilling, including researching regulatory updates
* Not afraid of stepping outside of your comfort zone
* Ability to work independently as required
* Strong Excel / Google Sheets experience (including VBAs and macros would be an advantage)
* Experience in cosmetics regulation is highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Cosmetic Sciences, Biology, Legal etc) is an advantage, but not essential

Benefits

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* *6 months’ full pay for parental leave (primary caregiver)
* *Enhanced paternity leave
* Bonus scheme
* Day off for weekday birthdays
* Holiday purchase scheme
* 50% discount on Lush products and spa treatments
* Cycle to work scheme
* Discounted rail and bus season tickets
* Employee assistance programme
* *Financial childcare support on return to work
* We’re 10% Employee Owned - all colleagues play a role in protecting our ethics, our independence, contributing ideas for the future and share in the rewards of success when the company is doing well.
* Support groups, film nights, yoga, meditation sessions and much more
* *Tailored gender affirming care
*qualifying period/hours required

Through our separate business divisions we invent, manufacture and sell our handmade products direct to our customers through our own shops and online. The fact that we make all our products by hand is something we are really rather proud of!
