Newbury Street Practice is looking for a prescription clerk to join our exciting and dynamic team situated in a new purpose built reception area.
Main duties of the job
To be the first point of contact for medication related queies. Ensure patient is receiving high quality care regarding their medication process and monitor high risk patients. Provide patient education on medication ordering and advise them when appropriate.
About us
Newbury Street Practice has a team of GP's, healthcare practitioners as well as admin and secretarial teams. The practice has just had a new reception/clinical rooms and waiting room area built. We look after approximately 16,000 patients and are part of the Wantage Primary Care Network.

Job responsibilities
Administrative
o Answering medication queries frompatients, staff members and pharmacies/care homes
o Inputting prescription orders
o Ensure safe and appropriate storage ofmedicines
Collateinformation from medication related queries and forward to an appropriatehealthcare professional in a timely manner
Promotionof electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering
Liaisewith patients and healthcare providers to obtain correct prescriptioninformation
Manageprescription requests from vulnerable/high priority patients and care homeresidents
Workwith Prescribers to provide a responsive repeat prescription service, inaccordance with any relevant and appropriate policy or protocol and template
Deliveringthe technical aspects of prescription preparation to ensure the safeprescribing of medicines
Complywith legal and professional requirements, accepted guidance on professionalpractice, and with safe systems of work for re-authorising repeat prescriptions
Liaisewith pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert clinicians of anysupply issues and forward information on the recommended alternative
Beaware of monitoring requirements for selected drugs or categories of drugs andfollow up required monitoring with patients concerned
Bringany queries to the attention of the relevant Prescriber to include under andover usage
Liaisewith external pharmacy services and patients to resolve queries and communicatechanges to medications
Buildgood working relationships with local Pharmacies to help enable the Practiceprescription service
Check emails and tasks regularly,actioning them appropriately
Createtasks and assist clinicians in managing document workflow relating toprescriptions
Establishand maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computerisedinformation is easily accessible and secure Escalate any problems to Team Leader
Providecover for members of the Prescription team during periods of sickness andannual leave
Undertaketraining as required to support safe and effective services for the Practice
Carryout any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Clinicians orManagers
