Salary: £35,392 to £42,618 DOE, pro rata

Main Purpose:
To work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy (SaLT) within the Brainkind Neurobehavioural model to People We Support with acquired brain injury (ABI) and to lead on SaLT provision within the service. To liaise with internal and external professionals, family members, and People We Support.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Apply the neurobehavioural approach to brain injury, demonstrating knowledge of current research and best practices.
* Manage and prioritize a caseload of People We Support with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
* Use evidence-based practice, service user-centered principles, and clinical reasoning for assessment, planning, and intervention.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments and formulate appropriate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication, and dysphagia therapy programs.
* Overcome communication barriers to engage People We Support in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, including working within a legal framework for those lacking capacity.
* Seek and share consent with People We Support, respecting confidentiality.
* Provide information about communication abilities and support needs.
* Complete swallowing assessments, provide recommendations, care plans, referrals, and staff training on dysphagia management.
* Comply with risk management and safeguarding responsibilities, seeking improvements as needed.
* Complete risk assessments and improve health and safety in the work area.
* Maintain equipment and inventory, informing the manager of needs.
* Maintain HCPC registration and portfolio requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
Leadership: Work flexibly as an autonomous clinician, develop relationships, lead service planning, and participate in clinical governance.
Research and Development: Undertake research, audits, and participate in meetings and liaison with clinical teams.
Facilitation of Learning: Support learning culture, contribute to training, and model professional behavior.
Personal Development: Maintain and improve own practice through training, supervision, and reflection. Participate in mandatory and additional training.
About You:
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
* Experience in hospital or residential settings.
* Knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI.
* Experience with speech and language outcome measures.
* Minimum 4 years qualified experience with complex case management.
* Minimum 2 years working with adults with neurological conditions or 4+ years post-registration experience in a different clinical setting.
