The Vacancy
Wates Property Services (WPS) is looking for an experienced Roofer to join our Responsive Maintenance team, working on a social housing contract in the Barnsley area.
You’ll be carrying out day‑to‑day roofing repairs and maintenance across occupied social housing properties, delivering a high‑quality service while maintaining excellent standards of safety and customer care.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out responsive roofing repairs and maintenance across social housing properties
2. Undertake roof inspections, fault diagnosis and remedial works
3. Work in line with Health & Safety, safeguarding and company procedures
4. Communicate effectively with schedulers, supervisors and residents
5. Complete job records and materials used via a handheld/PDA system
6. Work collaboratively with other trades when required
7. Deliver a professional, customer‑focused service in occupied homes
About You
8. Proven experience as a Roofer, ideally within social housing or responsive maintenance
9. NVQ Level 2 in Roofing (or equivalent) – essential
10. Full UK driving licence – essential
11. Experience working in occupied properties
12. Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements
13. Reliable, professional and customer focused
