Hays are working with a Manufacturing business in Telford who are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Operations Manager to lead our manufacturing operations across a multi-shift environment. This role is pivotal in driving performance, ensuringpliance, and delivering high-quality output while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your new role
Your role will involve:
Operational Leadership
1. Lead and manage a multifunctional team including Works Managers, Supervisors, and Operators across 3 shifts.
2. Drive shift performance, manufacturing output, and delivery targets.
3. Plan and allocate workload in collaboration with the leadership team.
4. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency.
Performance &pliance
5. Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
6. Ensurepliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
7. Prepare and present regular reports on performance metrics and operational KPIs.
8. Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on targets, arrears, and operational challenges.
Customer & Quality Focus
9. Ensure quality standards are met with a “right first time” approach.
10. Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, development, and capital investment.
Procurement & Stock Control
11. Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality.
12. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
13. Oversee stock control of critical plant materials, consumables, PPE, chemicals, and waste management in collaboration with the QHSE team.
Workforce Planning & Safety
14. Plan workforce requirements including recruitment, overtime, and holiday coverage.
15. Ensure health and safetypliance across all operational areas, including PPE usage and site standards.
What you'll need to succeed
16. Proven experience in a senior operations or manufacturing management role within an engineering or industrial environment.
17. Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
18. Proactive, hands-on approach with a “get-up-and-go” attitude.
19. Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
20. Strongmunication skills, both written and verbal.
21. Confident team player and leader with a focus on achieving business objectives.
