Temporary Payroll Administrator - Chelmsford
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: Equivalent to £33,000 - £36,000 per annum (hourly rate applied)
Location: On-site, Chelmsford (5 days per week)
Robert Half are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join a Chelmsford-based business on a temporary 3-month basis. The role will require full-time on-site presence. This is a great opportunity for someone with payroll experience to hit the ground running and provide vital support to the HR and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Upload and manage payroll data from the HR system, ensuring updates for starters, leavers, and contract changes are accurately recorded.
* Calculate and process statutory and contractual payments including maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick pay.
* Manage payroll deductions, including attachments of earnings and other statutory obligations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Maintain and update pension records, liaising with TPS, LGPS, and Standard Life regarding new joiners and leavers.
* Administer pensions auto-enrolment each month, and monitor re-enrolment requirements.
* Input worked hours for casual staff and additional hours for contracted employees into the payroll system.
* Process timesheets, ensuring correct approvals have been obtained.
* Produce and distribute payroll documents such as payslips, P45s, P11Ds, and P60s.
* Support recruitment processes by preparing salary calculations for job offers.
* Maintain up-to-date salary schedules and central records of staff pay.
* Monitor and apply annual pay increments and statutory pay increases in line with requirements.
Candidate Profile:
* Previous experience in payroll administration, ideally within a complex multi-pension environment.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to deadlines.
* Confident using payroll systems and Excel.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
