Delivering the Role
* Responsible for the performance of Shops in your Area, delivering outstanding performance across Customer, Financial, People and Operational KPIs.
* Work to constantly drive down waste and inefficiency, reviewing and adapting procedures to improve efficiency and maximize output, sharing best practice with colleagues.
* Focus on continuously driving sales performance by understanding strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats both internally and externally. Be proactive in responding quickly and appropriately when threats and opportunities arise.
* Identify trends requiring action within your P&L, understand the cause, and develop suitable strategic plans.
* Monitor and manage labour %, budget hours, waste targets, and performance across Shops to ensure the right balance of product availability, customer service, and efficiency.
* Develop high-performing teams, identify key skills gaps, and implement development plans to address these and grow talent. Recruit new colleagues and manage performance through HR procedures and Company policies. Build positive relationships with teams by understanding and addressing individual motivations, needs, and concerns.
* Monitor financial processes and audit Shops' invoicing, ordering, and banking to ensure accuracy and compliance with Company procedures.
* Ensure compliance with Cooplands policies and procedures to maintain successful Shop performance and uphold high standards of food safety and hygiene.
* Audit stock control across Shops, ensure accuracy, identify losses, and investigate concerns.
* Communicate promotional offers to teams, providing tools needed to manage successful promotions and maximize sales.
* Visit Shops regularly to ensure compliance with standards, efficient operations, and high standards of customer service, product availability, and presentation.
* Ensure Shops are vibrant, presentable, clean, and have a great atmosphere at all times.
* Use local market knowledge to identify and act upon trading opportunities.
* Anticipate future challenges and implement action plans to improve and maintain performance.
Key Skills, Know How & Experience
* Minimum 2 years of experience in an area/field management role.
* Highly motivated and target-driven, with strong commercial skills. Understands the link between high operational standards and results.
* Customer-focused, while appreciating the benefits of a strong Brand; a strong advocate of “One Cooplands”.
* Strong Leadership and People Management skills—confident to lead, coach, and mentor colleagues to achieve results. Proven ability to motivate a team to deliver outstanding performance.
* A team player who leads by example and is willing to get involved to get the job done.
* A creative, clear thinker, calm under pressure, capable of juggling multiple tasks.
* Solution-focused problem solver, addressing causes as well as effects.
* Analytical with attention to detail; proactive, a completer finisher. A clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building productive relationships.
* Aligned with our Vision, Mission & Values; promotes a positive, supportive, inclusive environment. Confident to address issues and uphold standards.
* Customer-facing experience within retail or food-focused business, understanding challenges of small-format retail environments.
* Collaborates with Central Support Functions, supports initiatives, and provides feedback.
* Car driver, comfortable traveling to multiple sites regularly.
