Interim Materials and Inventory Management Specialist Duration: 12-Month Contract Client: Major Energy organisation Location: South-East England / Hybrid Day rate: £435 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35) A global Energy organisation is seeking an experienced Materials & Inventory Management Specialist to support a major international growth programme, within a complex operational environment. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Procurement and Supply Chain team, this role will play a critical part in driving Inventory optimisation, ERP readiness, Materials Governance and Supply Chain performance across large-scale operational activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Oil & Gas, energy or Heavy Industrial experience, who enjoys balancing operational delivery, stakeholder engagement and strategic inventory management in fast-paced, high-value environments. The Role: Developing and implementing inventory and materials management strategies aligned to operational and business objectives Managing inventory optimisation, stock accuracy and replenishment planning through ERP systems including SAP, Oracle or Maximo Supporting ERP deployment and materials data readiness activities Driving materials planning, MRP execution and critical spares strategies Partnering with Procurement, Finance, Maintenance and Operations teams to improve supply chain efficiency and total cost of ownership Managing inventory health, surplus material identification and disposal programmes Leading stock review, reconciliation and inventory assurance activities Improving material master data quality and governance standards Monitoring and reporting on inventory performance metrics and supply chain KPIs Supporting supplier performance improvement and broader physical supply chain optimisation Providing guidance and capability support across inventory and materials management processes Requirements: Strong experience within Materials Management, Inventory Management or Supply Chain operations Background within Oil & Gas, Energy, Industrial, Engineering or large-scale Operational environments Experience supporting major projects, large CAPEX programmes or operational supply chains Strong working knowledge of ERP/P2P systems including SAP, Oracle or Maximo Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving capability Comfortable working across complex stakeholder environments and international teams Strong understanding of warehousing, logistics and inventory control principles Able to influence, collaborate and drive outcomes across multidisciplinary teams This is an urgent requirement - if interested, please apply asap and any questions, email claire.shipman@1st-executive.com
