Overview
This role is key in providing secretarial and administrative support to eight Consultant Histopathologists and Senior Laboratory staff. The department reports surgical histology cases, cytology samples and supports 33 clinicopathological meetings per month, providing a cellular pathology service to hospital clinicians and GPs in BaNES, Wiltshire and Somerset. Working as part of a team of medical secretaries and administrative staff, the responsibilities of our Senior Medical and MDT Secretary role are varied and would include:
Responsibilities
* audio-typing of histopathology and cytopathology reports using the Winscribe digital dictation system and the pathology computer system (Ultra)
* responsible with four other secretaries for the preparation of case lists for 33 multi-disciplinary team meetings each month. These include MDT meetings where the patients are directly identified and a case list is compiled by the department.
* support with the coordination and managing of histopathology cases for Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) to ensure that patients are actively managed through their journey by ensuring that they are listed and roll-over cases are actioned.
* other administrative duties that contribute to the delivery of a full histopathology service including answering telephone and email queries
* typing external supplementary reports
* secretarial support for eight Consultant Histopathologists, one Specialist Registrar, the Laboratory Manager and Senior Laboratory Staff.
We are looking for an individual who has great organisational and IT skills with the experience of being able to meet tight and varying deadlines and the ability to communicate effectively. You will need to possess accurate audio-typing skills and preferably have a knowledge of medical terminology.
