An exciting opportunity has risen for a Health and Wellbeing Coach. This position will be to support those working in local industries to receive an NHS Health Check. You will be required to travel to different businesses across the Scarborough and Ryedale district to provide their workforces with a NHS Health Check.They support people to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in managing their health, to improve health outcomes and quality of life to support them making positive changes via coaching and through providing access to interventions such as self-management education, peer support and more.,
* Provide 1-1 support for people eligible for a NHS Health Check
* Manage and prioritise a caseload, in accordance with the needs and support required by individuals. Along with a strong awareness and understanding of when it's appropriate or necessary to refer people back to other health professionals/agencies, because the person's needs are beyond the scope of the role
* Conduct health and wellbeing tests including a finger prick test for cholesterol, blood pressure checks, height and weight measurements.
* Health and wellbeing discussions including smoking cessation, physical activity and alcohol intake
* Signposting and onward referring where necessary
* Utilisation of the MECC principle
* Work with North Yorkshire Council to set up clinics within local businesses
* Work with the YOURhealth admin team to establish clinics and referrals into the service
* Manage booking systems for each business
* Attend and contribute to team meetings and events as required
* Work flexibly, adapting to the needs of the service and client group while maintaining the integrity of the role
* Participate in regular health coaching supervision and continual learning
The successful candidate will be compassionate, reflective and self-aware and enjoy working with a wide range of people. They will have good communication skills and a firm belief that people have untapped resources within them, that can be developed by providing high quality, non-judgemental support. They will be proactive with a flexible attitude, keen to work as part of a team and committed to developing themselves in this skilled role.
