The role
Our client, a well-established construction and fit-out specialist, is currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. Operating across the UK, they deliver a diverse portfolio of fit-out, refurbishment, facilities management, commercial furniture, and minor works projects valued up to £5 million. The Opportunity Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams. Key Responsibilities Attend site surveys and assist with the preparation of cost estimates and project budgets. Procure subcontractors and suppliers and prepare contractual documentation. Assess and certify subcontractor interim applications for payment. Prepare interim valuations and final account submissions. Manage and value project variations. Assist with the preparation of Extension of Time claims and Loss & Expense submissions. Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle. Produce accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and forecasts. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Support collaboration between commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery. Candidate Requirements A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline. Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector. Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract. Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills. Experience preparing take-offs and pricing variations independently. Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Strong numerical, analytical, and IT skills. A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities. Flexibility to travel to project sites as required. What's on Offer?
