Role overview
Introduction to the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join the Credit Control team in our Liverpool office. You will work closely with the wider Finance department and teams from across the firm’s three core divisions: Business Services, Healthcare and Marine.
You will be responsible for managing debt levels on your own set of accounts and work closely with the legal teams to reduce overall debt. You will also be responsible for carrying out daily/monthly tasks, dealing with incoming queries and maintaining client records.
This role will give you the opportunity to work with large national/international corporate clients and will present different challenges on a day to day basis
Key responsibilities:
18. To manage and maintain debt to an acceptable level within your own portfolio of work
19. Participate in clearing aged debt to achieve Hill Dickinson DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) target
20. Reduce overall debt greater than 12 months
21. Provide an excellent service to our clients (internal and external)
22. Arrange and facilitate regular meetings with Partners and Fee Earners to discuss aged debt
23. To attend and participate in team meetings
24. Visit other UK offices to build and maintain strong relationships with Partners and Fee Earners
25. Utilise automated debt chasing and work through daily tasks
26. Identify areas for improvement and implement changes where necessary
27. Good overall knowledge of taking legal action, making business decisions on whether it is cost effective to sue the client

Essential:
28. Demonstrable proven experience in a credit control environment in previous role with knowledge of credit control activities
29. Experience of working in a Law Firm
30. Good analytic and problem solving skills
31. The ability to manage and maintain own portfolio of work
32. Understanding of other finance functions
33. Good negotiation skills
34. Aptitude to deal with people at all levels
35. A calm and professional manner
36. Sound IT skills across a broad range of applications including MS Excel
37. Organised individual with good attention to detail
38. Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and ensure deadlines are met

Desirable:
43. Experience using Aderant including the collections module
