About the Role
We are seeking a well-organized and highly motivated HCPC-registered individual who has achieved the IBMS Specialist Portfolio to join our dedicated Haematology & Blood Transfusion team.
The team comprises 16 Biomedical Scientists, supported by 2 Associate Practitioners and 2 Medical Laboratory Assistants. Staff rotate between departments, with the Blood Transfusion department recently moved into a refurbished laboratory adjacent to the combined Biochemistry Haematology laboratory.
The Blood Transfusion department performs a wide range of tests, including some immunology, and participates fully in the antenatal sickle cell and thalassaemia screening program.
Our trust is committed to the personal and professional development of its staff. The laboratory is fully automated, using platforms such as Immucor NEO Iris, Stago Star Max, Sebia Capillarys 3 Tera, Horiba Yumizen 2500, and Bioflash. We currently use the Clinisys Winpath Laboratory Information System, transitioning to Beaker and then Epic. The role involves rotating through all laboratory sections and participating in out-of-hours shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
