At Skills for Security, we don’t just deliver training - we build careers, close skills gaps, and power the future of the fire and security industry.
We’re looking for an ambitious, people-focused Apprentice Recruitment & Onboarding Lead to take ownership of the full learner journey - from first contact through to programme start. If you thrive on leading teams, improving processes, and delivering exceptional experiences, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
Why this Role Matters
This is more than recruitment. More than onboarding.
You’ll be at the centre of our apprentice talent pipeline - ensuring every apprentice and employer partner experiences a seamless, high-quality journey. You’ll lead from the front, balancing strategy with hands‑on delivery, and play a key role in driving growth across the business.
What You’ll be Doing
Lead & Inspire
* Manage and develop a team of Talent Acquisition Managers and Onboarding Executives
* Set clear goals, drive performance, and build a high‑performing culture
* Coach, mentor, and support your team to succeed
Own the Talent Journey
* Oversee apprentice recruitment pipelines aligned to employer demand
* Ensure candidates are effectively sourced, assessed, and matched
* Deliver a smooth, engaging onboarding experience from offer to enrolment
Champion Quality & Compliance
* Maintain audit‑ready processes and documentation at all times
* Deliver consistent, high‑quality Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
Improve & Innovate
* Analyse data and KPIs to optimise performance
* Streamline processes to improve efficiency and scalability
* Enhance candidate and employer satisfaction at every stage
Stay Hands‑On
* Manage your own caseload across recruitment and onboarding
* Step in during peak periods to support delivery
What We’re Looking For
You’re a natural leader who combines commercial awareness with a passion for people and process.
You’ll bring:
* Experience in recruitment (ideally within apprenticeships or learner focused environments)
* Ability to adhere to compliance‑driven metrics
* Proven ability to lead
* Excellent attention to detail, organisational and problem‑solving skills
* Confidence working with data, KPIs, and systems (CRM/ATS)
* A proactive, hands‑on approach with a “player‑manager” mindset
Bonus points if you have:
* Experience in apprenticeships or funded learning
* Knowledge of DfE funding rules
What We Offer:
* Home/hybrid working
* Competitive salary and company bonus
* 33 days of annual leave, plus Christmas closure (3 days)
* Enhanced pension contributions
* Family friendly working hours
* Life assurance 3 x salary
* Refer a friend scheme
* Development and progression opportunities
* Funded qualification opportunities
Safer Recruitment:
As we accept students under 18 years of age and prioritise their safety, please note the following if we proceed with your application:
* We will require two references, specifically asking if there is any reason you should not be employed in roles involving responsibility for, or substantial access to, individuals under 18.
* We will need a satisfactory explanation for any gaps in your CV. A DBS check will be required before confirming your appointment.
* If appointed, we will need to see your passport or other proof of identity and your original certificates.
