As a Care Support Worker, you’ll help individuals throughout their day – including getting to and from our service – making sure they feel supported, safe, and valued every step of the way. You’ll play a vital role in meeting both the physical and emotional needs of the people we work with. What you’ll be doing: Supporting people in a way that’s personal to them Helping people live life their way, making choices and shaping their own routines. Using a range of communication methods tailored to each person’s needs. Supporting people to speak up for themselves – or be their voice when they can’t. Encouraging involvement in everyday activities that promote independence and inclusion. Working with care plans using our care planning system. Supporting with health and personal care (including continence and mobility), and manage behaviours when needed. Safely supporting people in wheelchairs and helping with transport via our vehicles. Delivering top-quality care Keeping accurate, up-to-date records of care and support. Sharing important information with Team Leaders and Supervisors. Completing our induction and training programmes Being an active part of the team, attending meetings and contributing ideas. Always treating everyone – from the people we support to their families and fellow staff – with respect. Following all Focus Birmingham policies to ensure safe, high-quality care. What we’re looking for: Essential Naturally kind, caring and able to understand others' needs. Genuinely passionate about helping people live their best lives. A good team player who lifts others up. A positive attitude, even when things get tough. Able to support with manual handling and wheelchair use. Willing to learn and use different ways to communicate. Confident in using written English to record care clearly and accurately. Previous experience supporting people with care needs. Desirable Familiarity with Makaton, PECs, or other communication aids.
