We are currently recruiting for a Portfolio & Outsourcing Director to support our Chemical Development function, based in Macclesfield.
Role Overview
This role will focus on leading portfolio, resource demands, finance and budget within Chemical Development. The role ensures resources are aligned with project priorities while maintaining fiscal discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio and Resource Management:
1. Lead the portfolio to ensure timely allocation of resources (working with the People Director), budget management, accurate and effective reporting, and prompt escalation of any issues. Maintain clear communication regarding outcomes and budgets.
2. Deliver enhanced portfolio processes aligned with departmental change, identifying key improvement and lean integration, as well as continuous improvement for the portfolio process, tools and governance.
3. Collaborate with executive leaders, business units, and project sponsors for decision-making and portfolio steering.
4. Perform portfolio performance reviews and analyses, producing performance and productivity reporting dashboards for senior leadership.
5. Drive adoption of portfolio management best practices, tools, and governance processes.
Outsourcing Strategy:
6. Own, develop and lead the outsourcing strategy for Chemical Development portfolios.
7. Contribute to drug substance Clinical refresh programs and input into Commercial drug substance strategies.
8. Evaluate and identify potential new outsourcing partners and coordinate site visits.
9. Design networks to manage outsourcing projects and ensure standardization of processes.
Revenue and Capital Budget, Assessment and Prioritisation:
10. Lead and manage the revenue and capital budget processes, ensuring compliance with budgetary limits and ensuring strategic items are prioritised and justified.
11. Track and manage departmental priorities, negotiating budgetary allocations as needed
12. Oversee updates to phased budgets and RBU, focusing on headcount, consumables, and recruitment, in partnership with the People Director
13. Represent Chemical Development at PT&D interactions to ensure fair distributed decision outcomes
Qualifications and Experience:
14. Extensive experience in portfolio and resource management.
15. Proven track record of successful budget management and financial planning.
16. Excellent communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and departments.
17. Excellent stakeholder management and governance skills
18. Pharmaceutical experience
19. Understanding of the drug development process and toll gates to enable clinical and commercial pharmaceutical manufacture and supply is desirable
