Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll hold executive responsibility for the operational performance of all PPG hospitals and surgical centres. You will ensure the consistent delivery of safe, high‑quality patient care while driving efficiency, cost control, and sustainable growth. You will lead a team of Hospital and Service Directors, setting clear performance expectations and creating an operational culture where safety, quality, and continuous improvement are non‑negotiable standards.
Key Focus Areas Include
* Delivering excellence through strong leadership of multi‑site operations
* Driving operational efficiency through benchmarking, resource optimisation, and cost‑reduction initiatives
* Overseeing budget setting, financial performance, and capital investment planning
* Leading turnaround plans for underperforming centres
* Ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and CQC requirements
* Embedding consistent clinical and operational best practice
* Strengthening workforce planning and reducing agency reliance
* Supporting commercial integration and expansion opportunities
* Acting as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and deputising for the COO where required
This is a strategic, hands‑on leadership role for someone energised by delivering tangible, measurable improvement in complex environments.
Essential Experience & Capabilities
* 5+ years senior operational leadership in multi‑site healthcare
* Outstanding ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams
* Strong business planning, commercial acumen, and financial discipline
* A confident, decisive leader with excellent communication, influencing and networking skills
* Expertise in turning strategy into operational delivery
* Evidenced success driving change, improving efficiency, and achieving KPIs
* High level of numeracy and analytical capability
Desirable
* Secondary care / hospital sector experience
* Experience in process improvement and project management
