Job Purpose

If yes, then United Utilities (UU) has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Engineering Commissioning team in a pivotal role that will help to deliver multifaceted commissioning projects, ensuring the successful realization of our strategic goals in the North West of England.
As Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will oversee commissioning activities, ensuring that all projects, regardless of their scale or complexity, adhere to established strategy and policy. You will be the primary point of contact (POC) and subject matter expert (SME) for stakeholder concerns, facilitating communication and resolving issues between the commissioning team and operations. Your expertise is crucial during the commissioning of new and refurbished assets and throughout the entire project lifecycle, including decommissioning.
Risk management is a critical aspect of the role, requiring you to identify and mitigate potential issues from design through to project integration and handover. To ensure safety standards are met and projects are completed satisfactorily, you will collaborate closely with project managers, teams, and external contractors when necessary.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with H&S legislation and UU best practices in all commissioning activities.
* Support the Asset Turnover (ATO) process, manage commissioning risks, and collaborate with the Integration team for asset service permissions.
* Maintain UU permit compliance, report high-risk activities, and provide commissioning insights to the Commissioning Manager.
* Manage the commissioning plan and files, lead commissioning meetings, and contribute to standardization strategies.
* Offer technical mentorship to junior staff and contribute to the Takeover process and technical training delivery for UU representatives.
Technical Skills & Experience
To be successful, you need to meet the following essential criteria:
* Degree/HND qualified in a relevant STEM subject, or demonstrable equivalent level of expertise.
* Working knowledge and experience of commissioning, including strategy, planning, and delivery processes, with significant experience in commissioning capital investment projects through their lifecycle.
* Ability to influence and direct commissioning approaches across the organization.
* Hold a current Full UK/EU driving license.
