Position: Estimator / Surveyor
Reporting to: Installation Director
Salary: £40K-£50K + £6K Car allowance
Purpose of the Role
The Estimator / Surveyor will be responsible for managing the tendering process from initial client enquiry through to submission, ensuring all proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company pricing policies. This role involves conducting site surveys, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, reviewing technical documentation, and supporting the development of projects from design through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for clients upon receipt of tender enquiries.
Carry out site surveys where required to support accurate costing and scope development.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to define project specifications.
Review drawings, specifications, and schedules of work to prepare detailed and compliant quotations.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare and record all quotations within the company's contract management system, ensuring follow-up and outcome tracking.
Secure purchase orders and verify pricing accuracy and validity.
Conduct credit checks for new customers to mitigate financial risk.
Work closely with the Contract Manager to support the transition from design to construction phase.
Essential Requirements
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, main contractors, and stakeholders.
Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and components.
Knowledge of project management principles and construction methodologies.
Willingness to travel to client sites, including overnight stays when necessary.
Awareness of quality management and health & safety standards.
Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
